 Transparency, Accountability, & Representation

The Problem

  • Students often feel disconnected from decision-making

  • Communication from leadership is inconsistent and one-directional

  • Not all students have equal access to representation

  • The most important role of the SMOB is to keep students connected

My Solutions

  • Maintain consistent, two-way communication with students

  • Bring back the Monthly Minute to keep students informed

  • Host monthly town halls and livestreamed Q&As

  • Use regular student feedback forms and act on them

  • Visit every middle and high school at least once during my term

  • Hold schools accountable for following through on decisions like the grading policy

  • Create the largest SMOB Advisory Council yet, with representation from every high school and every middle school cluster

  • Rotate Advisory Council meetings across different high schools

  • Offer hybrid meetings to ensure accessibility regardless of transportation

  • Work with the County Council to explore lowering the voting age to 16 for MCPS Board of Education elections

  • Ensure every school (elementary, middle, and high) has a Student Government Association
