The Problem

Many MCPS schools have not been renovated in 20+ years and are overdue for upgrade
Aging HVAC systems (recommended lifespan: 10–25 years) are failing and negatively impacting learning
Ongoing infrastructure crises at schools like Quince Orchard HS show the cost of delayed action
Bathrooms are frequently closed due to maintenance and safety issues
Not all schools meet ADA accessibility standards
Overreliance on portable classrooms creates inequality and overcrowding

My Solutions

Prioritize the most underserved schools in the Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) Budget
Keep bathrooms open, safe, and functional at all times
Ensure full ADA compliance and accessible infrastructure in all renovations and new projects
Commit to removing portables by 2040, especially as boundary changes are considered
Achieve Green School Certification for all schools by 2035
Expand solar panels and renewable energy to create healthier, more sustainable buildings
