Implementing Inclusive Lunches

The Problem

  • School lunch quality does not consistently meet students’ needs

  • Roughly 1 in 3 students have food allergies or dietary restrictions

  • Religious and cultural dietary needs are often overlooked in practice

  • Over 40% of MCPS students rely on free or reduced-price meals and deserve better

My Solutions

  • Improve the quality, variety, and nutrition of school meals

  • Ensure meals are truly inclusive of allergies, religious needs, and dietary restrictions

  • Hold regular student lunch surveys every interim to guide improvements

  • Increase accountability so “inclusive lunches” are reflected in everyday reality, not just policy
