The Problem

• Students often receive limited or unclear communication during safety incidents
  Inconsistent ID enforcement creates security gaps
  Drug exposure, bullying, hate incidents, and weapons concerns impact student safety
  Safety policies don’t always reflect student experiences

My Solutions

• Improve real-time and follow-up communication during emergencies

• Enforce a stronger ID policy so only authorized individuals are on campus

• Provide free ID replacements so security isn’t a financial burden

• Advocate for high-quality weapons detection systems in all MCPS schools

• Strengthen security guard training to prioritize both safety and positive relationships

• Expand drug prevention education, including Narcan awareness

• Ensure Narcan is available in all MCPS schools

• Strengthen consequences for hate incidents, especially repeat offenses

• Streamline bullying and safety reporting systems
